His family weekend

This is the first time in quite a while that I've been off for the weekend and actually stayed in New York. I planned to go to church on Sabbath and have lunch with the big homie Greg because the boyfriend wasn't scheduled to be in town till Sunday morning but to my surprise he came on Friday night. *big smiles*

Saturday morning we drove Midnight to the Poconos accompanied by his oldest niece and sister to celebrate his niece Haley's 11th birthday. It was so great meeting the rest of his nieces and nephews and watching them climb all over him, referring to Nelson as their favorite uncle.

Although I'm not one for snow, I had to admit our surroundings were beautiful

Even Midnight enjoyed the snow

As you can see I'm not exactly dressed weather appropriate but I couldn't pass on this photo op

The next day we went to a Bronx SDA church banquet planned by Nelson's father. Now, I haven't been to a church banquet in over 10 years but it was nice getting pretty, connecting with his family and of course spending time with him.

Guilty conscious perhaps?

Since I've gotten Midnight, I haven't driven Blush. I feel awful about it because I swore up and down Blush would be the car I drive to work but that hasn't happened :-/.

On my way home from the hairdresser and nail shop last week Tuesday, I noticed a little note behind the windshield wipers of Blush. Right away I started feeling myself. There was no doubt in my mind that someone from my block was admiring me from afar and couldn't help professing their love for me in a romantic message. With the biggest smile on my face I channeled my inner Aaliyah and snatched up my four page letter. You couldn't imagine my surprise when I opened it up and realized it was an apology letter from the kid who knocked off my driver side mirror in September! He said he was sorry for the trouble he caused me, left me his name/phone number and offered to pay for the damage.

Despite the fact it happened 2 months ago, even though what he did to me was shady, I was impressed with the courage and sense of responsibility this young guy mustered up. He didn't have to apologize to me or leave his contact information, I mean there is no way I would have known it was him. I don't know if it was his guilty conscious or maybe someone from my block said something to him but it sort of revived my faith in people a little. It made me think maybe people still do hear that still small voice helping them realize when they've done something wrong.

Is there anyone you need to say sorry to?

My new addition/ Letter to my precious Blush

I would like to introduce you to the newest addition to our now 4 car deep Geico bill…lol.. Midnight. It’s my new (to me) 2010 Acura TSX. My little brother David took the car my dad has been driving to Philadelphia with him so it left us one car short. I’ve been driving my 1998 Camry, Blush, since 2004 and David and my father, two years before that so I just thought it was time for a little upgrade. I’ll be driving him to DC tomorrow so I’ll give you a full review then.

To my precious Blush,

Don't think I've forgotten all the years you've been good to me. I've never met such a loyal and dependable automobile in all my life. We've had some hard times but you've proven yourself over and over again. From New York to Tennessee to Hunstville and Atlanta for weekends. All over the state of Florida then back to New York again. I love you and I'm happy you're still apart of our family. Thanks for granting me my independence and allowing for great times along the way!

Boston Market

Today is the second day I’ve spent at the Acura dealership, forfeiting the sleep I so desperately need for work tonight. Even though I signed the paperwork for my new TSX I’m not that excited to be honest. Maybe it’s because the car won’t be in my possession until tomorrow but I think it’s mainly because I’m super exhausted and grouchy. But as I walked out the glass doors my eyes wandered across the street and I spotted a BOSTON MARKET!!! You don’t understand… I haven’t had Boston Market since my trip to Florida back in August and before then, I can’t even remember. I practically skipped inside to place my order. I tried my best to remember what I ordered back in Ft. Lauderdale a few months ago that made my lunch so yummy but I couldn’t. I got chicken (white meat of course), mac & cheese, stuffing and there is no way I could forget the corn bread. When I got home I couldn’t wait to dig in. As I took my first bite I realized something was off. Maybe I should have gotten mashed potatoes instead of stuffing *shrugs* . Oh well this meal wasn’t part of my diet anyway and at least I know where to head next time the craving hits.
