For the past two weeks I've been orienting in the emergency room and after my first day, I totally related to the over-the-top episode of Mercy that aired the night of 2/10. An older gentleman was being triaged in the ER and complained of chest pain. Chloe and Angel asked how long he had been experiencing this pain, the man responded 2 months. They wanted to know why he chose to come in today and the man said this was his only day off...lmao. Clearly this wasn't an emergency.
An emergency is a sudden unforeseen crisis (usually involving danger) that requires immediate action!
People if your experiencing abdominal pain that's causing cramps, diarrhea or nausea/vomiting STAY HOME, you'll be more comfortable there. It's probably just a virus that will eventually pass through or my favorite, you're probably suffering from a hangover from all the liquor you drank the night before. All we'll do is give you some fluid, Reglan, maybe some Zofran (for nausea/vomiting), draw some unnecessary blood, and if you're lucky you MIGHT get some pain meds then send you on your merry way. Abdominal pain is NOT AN EMERGENCY (unless it's in the right lower quadrant then it might be appendicitis).
If you think you have a STD go to your neighborhood clinic... this is NOT AN EMERGENCY. PS- Little girls if you don't know what chlamydia is or how you get it, you probably shouldn't be having sex.
People utilize you primary care physicians. Stop being cheap, pay that co-pay, have some patience and go to your doctor's office. We don't want to see your sore throats, colds, stomachaches, UTI's, or ear infections. There are really sick people that need the beds you take up.
Please note: If you continue to have chest pain that radiates to your back and causes you to vomit every time you smoke weed it's probably mixed with something and perhaps you should stop smoking or at least find a new supplier.
lmao tell them nurse nunu.
ReplyDeleteIn my defense I didnt have insurance so that is the only reason why I went to ER for my severly bad Ear Infection. But this is def good to know, especially about the right tummy pain. I see you was none too happy with the ppl who came into the ER today...LOL
ReplyDeleteLOL... I actually finished my time in The ER last week Friday but I'm just getting around to blogging about it. I totally understand about having no health insurance,I just got mine last week. Thank God I was well during my lapse. That's one of the problems in our country, the uninsured. It's a sad reality.
ReplyDeletelmao.........oh yes poyz let em know. Beds should be for real emergencies like a rectal abscess requiring surgery. Yoooo.... I love the show Trauma............. You would HEART it... It comes back on March 8th I believe on NBC right after Hereos.
ReplyDeletelmao @ rectal abscess but you're right.I'll take a look at Trauma as long as it doesn't interrupt any of my other shows...lol
