Peace up, A town down

This weekend Nelson and I headed to Atlanta, a city dear to my heart. I spent many weekends there during my 4 years at Southern. This was my first time back since Alinka's wedding in 2008! Sheree decided to bless Kennedy there since that's where most of her close friends and family are and I was so happy with her decision.

I finally got to meet Alinka's 1 year son Davis. How can you not fall in love with this face?

I also met Jennipher's adorable daughter Kendall and all I can say is like mother like daughter...lol
I was able to spend time with 2 friends from college, Gaelle & Maggie

What made the trip even sweeter was my friend Kevina gave birth to a beautiful baby boy Clayton 1 day prior. I was so happy I was able to visit and spend time with her during her hospital stay

I would be lying if I said I don't have a tad bit of baby fever...lol

Ki'Jah and her new baby brother

On Saturday night, we all got together and had a late dinner at Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles. The boyfriend didn't come along because he made plans with his friends so I was without a photographer for the night. I stole these from Alinka... hope she doesn't mind =-)
Reunited and it feels so good

Can't wait to see them all again XOXO

Easter Weekend

I was gone for a minute but I'm back... no long explanations but I'm sure you'll forgive me after looking at these adorable pics of my god daughter Kennedy and her mommy Sheree.

This weekend, Sheree and baby spent the weekend in the Bronx. It was an extra special Sabbath because it was Kennedy's first time at church and my daddy was there too! I wish I got a picture with my father but we didn't leave the house or church together and I sat on the balcony while my parents were in the sanctuary.

Kennedy was on her best behavior and I was so proud. She slept for most of the service but I couldn't help snapping a few pics of mother and daughter. Can you believe this is their first picture together since Sheree gave birth?!?! Crazy right...

Later that night it was time to reunite with my crew. We haven't all been together in a long time so we were all extra excited.

I love finding a good bargain and I hit it out the park with this find from Guess?. I actually saw this dress online a month ago but I refused to pay the asking price but I got it on sale for like $25! I really wanted it in white but the unfortunately the zipper didn't work... nevertheless I was pleased with my purchase =-)
Despite all the drama and the debacle that took place later on that night, not to mention Taj not showing up, I still enjoyed the time spent with my girls. I can't wait to do it again but maybe next time we'll 86 the party idea and have dinner or something ;-)

Sunday at Crossroads

The boyfriend has been bragging about the Sunday brunch at Crossroads Restaurant in MD for as long as I can remember so we finally hit one of his favorite spot's this weekend. As we pulled into the parking lot, I tried to hide my disappointment. In my head I said, "I hope this man isn't taking me to a hole in the wall that could easily fit in with the other Jamaican restaurants on White Plains Rd" (my neighborhood in the Bronx) ...awful I know...lol. But as I stepped inside I was dead wrong.
The ambiance inside was pretty nice, a little too dark for me but nice nonetheless . The tables were lined with linens and the dark wicker chairs and matching celling fans gave it a cool Caribbean vibe. Sunday brunch is an all you can eat buffet and there was plenty to choose from. Escovitched fish, ackee & saltfish, stew chicken, rice & peas, curry chicken, fried dumpling, calaloo, fried plantain, green banana, porridge and much more. There was even an omelet and waffle station! Its like having breakfast or lunch in your grandmother's kitchen and for about $20/person, you can't go wrong.

I love the mural painted on the wall adjacent to the parking lot. What a great reminder of our past!

I got your back Mr. President cuz I know you have mine!

Niyah's 2nd Birthday

This past weekend I went to Philadelphia to celebrate my niece Niyah turning two. She had her shindig at the Dave & Busters down by the pier. The view was spectacular especially at night.

She's such a daddy's girl

When we first arrived she didn't want anyone near here except her mom

but as soon as DJ Lance Rock from Yo Gabba Gabba (David & Patience's friend Jon) showed up, she was ready to get the party started.
She had a blast playing all the games

and her auntie needed a drink after running behind her from game to game

It's amazing how fast she's growing. Let's see how terrible this two year old will get

Sheree's Baby Shower

I threw my bestie Sheree’s Baby Shower on Saturday at Fashion Rock in Brooklyn, NY. It took a lot of planning, hard work, and moolah but seeing how happy she was as we celebrated the soon coming of Kennedy- Elyse made it all worth it.

I think pink and green was the perfect combination

I used white chocolate covered Oreo lollipops as favors but they also served as great decor being displayed in a vase filled with gumballs

This is one of the prettiest shower chairs I've ever seen

I was so happy some of Sheree's childhood friends from Lithonia, Ga made it to the party

Finally the guest of honor arrived and I crowed her queen for a day

We had plenty of food! My cousin Dawn really threw down

Thanks Angela for the games, everyone enjoyed them!
Mommy and Daddy to be

Sheree got plenty of gifts for lil Kennedy- Elyse
Luv you guys, I promise to be the best god mother possible

I'm so thankful for the boyfriend this weekend. Without him I could not have gotten it done
Me and some of my favorite girls. I love you guys!!
