Post Vacation Blues

Well I just returned from my highly anticipated va-cay and I had a blast! I’m so not looking forward to returning to work on Thursday but such is life. I’m a little bummed that my getaway has come and gone because now what will I have to look forward to and get me through my long nights at work? I know… maybe I’ll plan my next vacation…lol…ok that might be a little premature so for now I’ll share my pictures and stories of adventure with you throughout the week. In the meantime I’ll start my diet and workout routine after all the cruise food I devoured...lol

My big homie

This week I'm off from Monday to Friday night (yay)! You know normally with 4 days off I would be on the next thing smoking to DC but I have so many things to take care of and friends I've been neglecting that I thought it would be best to stay in NY for these few days.

One of these friends is my big homie Greg. We normally would have lunch together one Sabbath a month after church but now all my Sabbath's off are spent out of town so we rarely see each other anymore, so we got together at the Italian restaurant Gianna's in Yonkers. The service is really good and I love the ambiance. It's dimly lit with candles on each table.
I had the chicken parmigiana with whole wheat pasta and Greg had the chicken marsala. The chicken parm was ok (I think the one I make is better though) but the serving was huge. I couldn't finish it all even though that was my only meal of the day.

We decided to share dessert and ordered the Oreo cookies and cream cake. Thankfully it wasn't good so after one bite we had enough and saved on a ton of calories.

It was so nice hanging out and catching up with my friend again. This is one friendship I could never be with out.

Girls Nite Out

Last night I went out with some of my favorite girls. We went to the new TGIFridays on Union Square which was quite fitting since that's where our love for each other began. We haven't all been together since my birthday at Spa Castle in September. I finally got to see Samantha's hair since she cut off all her perm and is now completely natural. She is so my inspiration (well one of them) to continue to transition. I love her new curls and I wish I was just as brave to let it all go.

We shared laughs, gossip, our trials, tribulations and even more laughs while we indulged in good food and way too many drinks.

Even though all four of us woke up sick as hell from the array of different drinks we just had to try (umm girls we should know better than that) it didn't take away from the great time we experienced the night before. I can't wait till next month when we all get together again to celebrate Nickeysha and Samantha's birthday.

*Please excuse the poor quality pictures. These were taken with my blackberry since I left my camera charger in DC*

Lunch with Tanica

I had plans to meet up with one of my old high school girlfriends Tanica today. One thing you should know about her is that she is a stickler for time. She detests when people aren't punctual so you can imagine how freaked out I was when I knew I was going to be late, struggling to get my non relaxed hair straight... what a headache!

Finally I got to Union Square with a little help from the 2 train that decided to re route to the East Side ( I love when mass transit gives me little surprises that work in my favor). We had lunch at a Brazilian/American restaurant called the Coffee Shop two blocks away from our old high school.
We had sooooo much to catch up since we haven't seen each other in FOREVER! The first thing I noticed about Tanica is how flawless her makeup was. She recently finished a make up course and I must say this is her true calling. She shared pictures of a recent fashion show she worked on and I was very impressed. I told her whenever I get married she has to make herself available to beat my face...lol.

It was so good talking and catching up with Tanica. I made her promise to never go so long without seeing me again.

One thing I love about my true friends is no matter how much time has gone by, regardless of how mature we've become, where we are in our lives both personal and professional our relationship never changes.
