Unconditionally Single

I would be lying if I said I don't get annoyed easily but I absolutely hate the way some people react when they find out that I'm 26 years old, not married or at least in a serious relationship.

* NEWS FLASH * I'M OK WITH IT, SO YOU SHOULD BE TOO!

I love author Mary B. Morrison because she coined the term unconditionally single- a person who understands her relationship needs, communicates effectively, willingly compromises, and refuses to settle. That is sooooooo me!

I know what I want and I'm very realistic, I'm not looking for perfection but I have standards and refuse to lower them just to be in a relationship, sorry, been there down that. Don't get me wrong, I would love to be in a relationship, it just has to be the right one.

In the meantime I'll follow some advise from Cher: "A girl can wait for the right man to come along, but in the meantime that doesn't mean she can't have fun with all the wrong ones."

I enjoy each man to the extent that I'm interested in him....

So yes I'm single and you have to be pretty amazing to change that!

Does it really exist?

Sometimes I feel I'm going to miss out on a good thing because I'm drawn to something that might not exist. I've come across some great guys in my adult life: educated, ambitious, God- fearing, mature, looking for a serious relationship, totally into me, no issues or baggage etc and I've passed them up. Why you ask? I'm almost embarrassed to say but I will- I'M NOT ATTRACTED TO THEM and not because they're bad looking or anything but:

Because they don't send that shiver down my spine; when they touch me I don't feel the electricity; when I know I'm going to see them I don't get butterflies; I don't mix up my words out of nervousness when I speak to them; I don't feel the need to constantly smile just because I'm in their presence; I don't get that overwhelming sensation to kiss them in a middle of a conversation; I don't feel like stalking them via facebook, skype, bbm, text messages, etc...lol

You probably think I watch too many movies or read too romance novels but I've actually experienced these feelings, some even recently, but for reasons beyond my control nothing has come out of it. Am I wrong for wanting someone to elicit the emotions I described above and posses the characteristics of the ones that I've left behind?

Sometimes I think I need to grow up and just give it a chance because maybe those feelings will develop... but will they? Am I selling myself short by settling with someone I'm compatible with, makes me laugh, adores me, who I can build a life/future, and grow to love but never be totally head- over- heels in love with?

What are your thoughts?

Someday....

A couple of days ago, an old friend and I, we’ll call her “Carmen” (insider…lol), were having a conversation via bbm (l ♥bbm) about still being single. She stressed how much she wanted a husband and kids. She questioned if any God-fearing, single men were left. Being the optimistic person I am (ummm maybe 90% of the time) and maybe trying to convince myself as well, I told her in God’s time it will happen. She responded, “God knows I ‘m ready “. I told her, “You may THINK you’re ready but God might think otherwise.”

I just want to encourage all the ladies in me and “Carmen’s” situation, those who have lost loves, and yes even the lucky ladies currently in love, with the quote below. Terry (you sure are getting a lot of shine on my blog) sent it to me earlier this week (it was my facebook status as well) and it brought actual tears to my eyes:

Who cares if this isn't grammatical correct, just look past that and believe and embrace it!
