Happy Birthday Mommy

You are as wise as you are annoying
You don't hesitate to say I told you so but then again most times you are right
You obviously love to hear yourself talk but when you're defending me I don't mind hearing it either

The good definitely out weighs the bad and I'll take it all because no one has ever had my back like you. Love you forever
Happy Birthday Mommy!

After work Wednesday's

My girls and I hit up After Work Wednesday's at the Katra Lounge in the city this week. Naomi couldn't make it because of a job interview but Taj actually showed up. This was the first time she's been out with us in over a year I think...

and boy did she have a good time...lol

The vibe was cool, all drinks were 2 for 1 until 8 or 9pm and the food was pretty good

There is even hookah available

We had a blast until...lol. Anyway I think we've found our weekly hangout spot

Congrats Grad

My cousin Derek graduated with his AA degree this past week and his parents threw a little get together to celebrate his accomplishment. I'm so proud of him because honestly Derek didn't think school was for him. He also had a couple of very difficult classes this last semester and was beginning to doubt himself. I gave him a few pep talks, encouraging him not to give up. Aristotle said, "The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet" and Derek is living proof of that.

I pray this is just the beginning of his academic career

Sometimes I think we forget how important an education is. I would never forget the words Dr. Ben Carson spoke at my commencement ceremony from Southern. He said if everything he had today was taken from him it would be okay because he knew he could get it all back because the one thing they couldn't take was the knowledge and skill he possessed.

Congrats again Derek and good luck as you start basic training in a few weeks and your BS program in January

Aren't the little ones in my family growing up so fast and just as beautiful?!

Peace up, A town down

This weekend Nelson and I headed to Atlanta, a city dear to my heart. I spent many weekends there during my 4 years at Southern. This was my first time back since Alinka's wedding in 2008! Sheree decided to bless Kennedy there since that's where most of her close friends and family are and I was so happy with her decision.

I finally got to meet Alinka's 1 year son Davis. How can you not fall in love with this face?

I also met Jennipher's adorable daughter Kendall and all I can say is like mother like daughter...lol
I was able to spend time with 2 friends from college, Gaelle & Maggie

What made the trip even sweeter was my friend Kevina gave birth to a beautiful baby boy Clayton 1 day prior. I was so happy I was able to visit and spend time with her during her hospital stay

I would be lying if I said I don't have a tad bit of baby fever...lol

Ki'Jah and her new baby brother

On Saturday night, we all got together and had a late dinner at Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles. The boyfriend didn't come along because he made plans with his friends so I was without a photographer for the night. I stole these from Alinka... hope she doesn't mind =-)
Reunited and it feels so good

Can't wait to see them all again XOXO

Kennedy's Blessing

My God Daughter
By: Rebecca L. Martell

The day I was asked if I would feel blessed to accept responsibility of a lifetime request
My heart was overwhelmed with a loving sensation, and I accepted this query without hesitation
Of loving you unconditionally and help guide you through life, to show you the direction of spiritual life
To be your strength in hard times and stand proud when you subdue the obstacles that life decides to throw you
And to you my angel I promise this
Because without you, as your godmother, I couldn't exist

Happy Birthday Daddy

As I get older, I realize more and more how lucky I am to have a dad like you
I wouldn't trade your understanding and support for anything
Thanks for giving me the kind of love that made the difference all through my life

Happy Birthday Daddy
