So the day, well the night, I've been dreading has finally arrived. I worked my first night shift last night and to be honest it was better than I anticipated. I didn't get sleepy until about 2 am but I was able to take my break then and nap for a hour and I actually felt a little better afterward. It's less family, doctors, and people in general around so it makes it less stressful. I only had one admission and I was able to stay on top of everything. Hopefully it's really like this and I just didn't have a lucky night.
I know there will be nights when I'm exhausted or pissed that I'm missing out on some event, but I'll look on the bright side, I don't have to wake up at 5:30 am anymore AND I'll be making more money. Even though I rather be the night nurse Gregory Isaacs sings about, I'll deal with just being a telemetry nurse at St. Joe's.
