For those of you that don't know, my mom is a nurse as well. I grew up with her working "doubles" ( 2 shifts at a time equaling 16hrs back when nurses worked 8 hours instead of 12). She did it for us, my brothers and I, to put us through school and to make sure we experienced things she didn't. I guess her work ethic was ingrained in me because I remember in college when I was holding down 2 or 3 jobs at one time. Not because I was struggling financially but because the opportunity presented itself and I enjoyed the independence it afforded.
So when the new schedule for July came out and it was short nurses (you know it's summer and people take off to go on vacation) I guess it was second nature to leave a note for my unit coordinator giving her the days I would be available to work some OT. I had no idea she would give me ALL the days I requested. Every week in July I'll be working 4 days instead of the normal 3. It's cool though, I'll be able to catch up on a few things and have a little something to put away in the rainy day fund.
What can I say... I grind for mine ;)
Those OT checks will sure be nice ;) I know I love it when Jason gets those!
